Its not as bad as you physically or mentally, but it is a huge waste of time. It falls under an ediction to entertainment us humans have.

I disagree. Online Games are part of a more general type of “addiction” known commonly as Gaming. People who spend countless hours on Xbox or PS3 are “addicted” as much as those who play WoW or EVE. The countless hours spent obtaining imaginary “Achievements” or money is fueled by their desire for instant gratification. Being able to start and reasonable complete something in 1 hour or less leads them to want more. Unfortunately 1 hour becomes 100 or 1000 in some cases when unchecked. There are many people out there who have difficulty putting down the controller or going “AFK” for longer than they are “AFL” (Away from Life).
The question though is one of ethics, “Is it a problem?”. Who is to say what is a problem and for whom? If someone chooses to maintain a social circle primarily outside of the physical world, that is their prerogative. Although some may say they are “addicted”, those within that social circle feel that is socially acceptable lifestyle choice.
So in short, Gaming addictions are not a myth per say but the addiction is not in the game, it is the social environment bundled within it. The lifestyle choice is only a problem for those who feel it is not the life they choose to live, and luckily for them they can so choose to do as they please. Gamers on the other hand, they see no problem with it.
