1. I am neither a physician nor a health professional
#2. What I write below is from my own limited experience
#3. your question is narrow: Is the offender still around? Is there a pattern in the target’s life?
PTSD implies that the behavior of the target as been permanently modified or at least for a long time. It is unfortunate condition but also a good occasion to learn about oneself whereas so many people go around their lives never knowing who they truly are.
If the damage is not permanent taking a break may be the best medicine.
The ideal IMHO is a circle of trusted friends willing to accept to hold “your” hand throughout the ups and downs, the knee jerking, the temper; group therapy may help if nothing else.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy gives the target a sense of control and eventually confidence that may have been lost during the ordeal. It also goes along with learning oneself.
If there is a pattern of abuse in the target, it is probably good to get into some more intense work along a professional with actual experience with PTSD. In my opinion, hypnotherapy, past life regression are passive approaches whereas people with PTSD need especially to regain some control over their lives. Medication has its use if the person is dysfunctional, just like crutches or stretchers, but I would take them only from a specialist and for a limited period of time. I personally do not trust the side effects of those drugs.
Best of luck!
