Drug treatment difficulties anyone?

Question by Follow-the-narrow-gate: Drug treatment difficulties anyone?
So… I have started my second round of IOP (intensive outpatient) and I always find treatment difficult. The fact of sitting in a room full of alcoholics and addicts… who are talking about drugs (whether it is good or bad) makes me want to use even more. I am always trying to recover, but talking about drugs always makes me want to use.

Anyone else have these difficulties in treatment or in general ?

NOTE: Please do not put rude comments, because my recovery is a serious thing and you do not know me or anything about my recovery.

Hey did you know that’s exactly how I feel about “recovery” programs. Maybe sitting around re-hashing drug induced tales works for some, yet none that I know. The last time I got High was November 1997. I think a person quits when their finally ready and not a minute sooner, I cut all ties with any users, literally isolated myself away from most everything, which was really tough. But that’s what ” I” had to do. I buried myself in my work. focused my energy on my kid, I was a single dad as well. Basically altered my thinking. Sitting around a table with a bunch of people talking over the “good” times, isn’t changing your thought process your still locked into the daily thought….Change the way you think…quit clean and forget those old friends..good luck there lady
