There was a similar program here (in Michigan) that advertised on the radio a lot. Supposedly, you would get treatment on Friday and return to work on Monday.

The program had several “adverse outcomes”…whatever that means…and went out of business.

Though the California program may be different, please be careful, ask about medical personnel, etc.

There is also a NEW outpatient treatment called Suboxone (the name brand) or “buprenorphine”. I don’t know tons about it, but a doctor I know is begining this program. You can try looking at the government web site listed below for more information.

Good Luck!!!!

Detoxing from drugs can definately cause personality changes. It doesn’t matter what method of detox is used. Many people experience psychiatric symptons, while coming off drugs. That is why it is better to be supervised by a medical doctor and psychiatrist. It is also possible that long-term drug use can cause psychiatric problems that may be temporary or permanent.

Philadelphia after midnight?

Question by Adrivit: Philadelphia after midnight?
So I’m going to a concert in Philly next month and my show ends at around midnight I’m guessing. Now my bus to DC leaves at about 2.30 am from 30th St station. I know it’s kind of stupid to wander around the streets at that time, but is there anywhere I could go for 2 hours without getting killed? Thanks!

Answer by David H
South street then take the Blue Line Night Owl from 5th or 2nd street give yourself 45 minutes to get to 30th st. They run about every 15-20 minutes.

Answer by Amanda
You’ll be fine inside 30th Street Station. Contrary to popular belief, it is unlikely that anyone will be interested in killing you unless you decide to sell drugs on someone else’s territory in a neighborhood you’ll have no reason to be in. 30th Street Station is also right by University City, so you could always find a campus bar to hang out in. The campuses there all have their own police patrolling in addition to Philadelphia cops.

A wonderful local resource is the Memphis Alcohol and Drug Council – Substance Abuse Services: 1430 Poplar Avenue, (901) 274-0056.
They offer referrals and treatment and accept payment on a sliding fee scale based on income. Among other things, they specialize in people involved in the criminal justice system. I believe they only offer outpatient services, but would be able to direct you to an affordable inpatient treatment program if that’s what you feel is needed.
Good luck with your brother.

Rehab or therapy

Answer by Elmer J. Fudd
!2 steps works decently enough however, I believe it to be kindergarten for sobriety. If you want to rid your self of these needs then you must go to the root problem. Many times it’s lack of self love, gratitude, and any presence of God in our lives. I know it sounds crazy but I dealt with a slew of addictions throughout my life both substance and behavioral. It wasn’t until I discovered peace, love of self and others, and spirituality that I was able to truly detach from those urges.
